I was thinking along the same lines for wheel color and headlights, thanks for sharing. I'd like so see some better (lighting) shots of the headlights when you get a chance.
Didn't read through all the posts but in reference to your diffuser "DirtyDave" did his in vinyl. Looks pretty good, I saw it in person at the Stillen Day too.
