that is how the oem one looks... ive never liked how the oem looked... half painted only to match the color of the z.... and i dont like the split line... in the beginning i planned on painting the mirror full solid red.... like painting the unpainted part the rest of the color.... so that it would be a full solid color on the mirror no breakage... no lines... but then i wanted to get cf instead... sooo i waited for a full cover that covers the whole mirror with no breakage going from carbon to black plastic again... thats why i like the stage 1... if you want the stage 2 then go for it bro... like i said they weigh close to nothing and thats what my bolt ons are for... it aint like im adding a carbon fiber quarter panel... or a carbon roof top... and its not like every guy i meet is gonna be like you and be like OMG there is a 1/8 gap on the edges.... its f*cking ugly... and what? its a stick on? thats freaking worse.... just saying dood... if your really concerned about the weight i added with the carbon covers then remove ur oem ones and rock the small tiny carbon fiber ones... i dunno what you call them but... im sure they weigh a hell of alot less then our bulky ones...
