Carbon fiber is made with polyester resin if it's done cheaply, or Epoxy resin if it's good quality. Epoxy resin is very hard and resists oxidation and marring compared to polyester resin which will scratch and dull quickly. Spraying a couple layers of clear on top would be a good idea, but I doubt most are doing that. It's not poor cleaning technique that lightly scratches these dame pillars, it's the soft paint they use on them. Mine are getting lightly marred and you don't want to get into cleaning techniques with me .
