The technology is great, for sure, but they need to make sure they're putting butts in the seats and people are buying their merchandise. F1 has to be exciting again, not just from a technological standpoint.
All I'm saying is give them soft tires. The cars can remain as high tech as ever, but with soft tires that won't go more than 25% of the race distance things will get very, very interesting.
And we really have to be realistic about the tire wars... they are dangerous. Every series that has ever had a tire war has almost gotten drivers killed because of it.
I don't know if you ever followed NASCAR before, but they switched to a single tire supplier after the tire war between Hoosier and Goodyear got really, really dirty in the late 80s. They were running tires that should never have been on track and hurt a number of drivers.
Michelin was really pushing the envelope towards the end of their most recent entry in F1... it was about to become pretty vicious. As cool as a tire war sounds, it is just way too dangerous.
