K&N is fine. I currently have pure1 on my Z but I have two K&N sitting at my desk. So I'll use those K&N for next two changes and switch to
Purolator Pure1 for all future changes
As for oil, any API certified 5W30 will work. Though, it's suggested that you wait a little (3000-5000 miles) before switching to synthetic THOUGH there are members here that switched at as early as thousand miles and no issues till date.
