Is resetting the ECU after mods unneccesary?
I'm wondering how much reality there is in the idea that the ECU must be reset in order for it to "learn" to adapt to new mods. The reason I'm asking is that after I had my intake and exhaust installed, I experienced some pretty respectable gains immediately...without resetting the ECU.
For example, if I were to take my car to a much different altitude, I would imagine that the ECU would adjust "on the fly" so to speak...much like it would adjust to new mods changing the A/F ratio.
What are your thoughts? Is the need to reset the ECU a myth?
