I considered getting a base model and doing everything myself too - with the Sports Package you get the following:

Nissan Sports Brakes
SynchroRev Match
Viscous limited-slip rear differential
19" Rays
Bridgestone Potenza tires
Front chin aero deflector (I can't even see this thing in pictures)
Body-color rear spoiler

Just comes down to how much do you really want to deal with adding/updating each of those versus just paying the $3k. Looking at that list, the only thing I might never replace would be the LSD and of course the SRM. Good luck with your decision.
