I sort of agree with Semtex here - I'm starting to think that SRM is a bit of a gimmick and I'll tell you why...
...just lately (because of the arrival of SRM) I've been more conscious of my gear changing actions. I've come to the conclusion that I actually don't need SRM, because I can actually change gear OK myself (without heel & toe). If I were on a track, racing people, I think it might be useful, but to be honest, I don't track my cars. In day-to-day driving I can beat anyone I choose to beat, without SRM.
Just like Semtex I have nothing against SRM and I will use it if I get a 370Z, but let's not overrate it - it's a nice little gadget, nothing more.
