For just over 5 years, I suffered through a 4wd chevy trailblazer... I tore that suv up... dirty, noisy, nearly 50k miles.... And the dealer still gave me more than I wanted in trade. My last Nissan was a 1984 Datsun Hatchback that I called Fred... We used to shoot fireworks out the back of it, hahaha... ahh high school.
I picked up my shiny new 2010 370Z Nismo, Black #255 this past saturday from the nissan dealership in north Austin, TX. They treated me well, though it would have been nice to have gotten a free soda, seeing as how I was spending 40+ k... but I digress.
I haven't driven a manual in years. Simply put, this thing hauls ***. I have to stay about 2 car lengths behind other cars at a stop light or in traffic, because even in first gear this car MOVES.
I'm a fairly safe driver, i had to be, suvs aren't meant to be raced. But now, i feel it slipping away. Taking a hard corner at 25+ and it's almost like the Nismo smiles. Feeling the power, the desire to see if I can hit 120, knowing i still have to break her in.
It's almost like the vehicle is cursed with Speed. I try to slow it down and it's almost pissed off at me. I get it to 55mph and it feels like i'm doing 20. 30mph feels like i'm jogging.
I've only checked the front two shocks, but I didn't find any spacers. I only smelled the tranny twice, both times i drove it saturday night. since then, only new car smell.
I'm enjoying the hell outa this thing. I forgot how good it was to drive a real sports car! Hell, a Race Car!
Is this love? Should I bust out into an 80's Ballad? Does the Pope **** in the woods?
Yeah, I read about how you can buy a stock 370Z and spend like 4k or 7k or whatever and get a "Better Vehicle"... But i'm not a Car Guy, I'm an EE. I can say the same thing about your Dell or HP Computer. Why didn't you build one from scratch, then overclock it, and setup a dual boot Wind0z & Linux config with the ability to boot each os in a VM in the other Host os using HyperV & Xen? It's all relative
The 2010 Nissan 370Z Nismo is a damn fine piece of machinery. The engineers who designed my sexy ride earned their paycheck on this one.
I'm even considering taking her out to a race track in a few mos... We'll see.
The tranny is noisy. At first, I thought I had bought a lemon... But a quick visit to the svc dpt and a chat with a tech (and quick ride) calmed all that down. He laughed and said, "You're going to feel the road and hear the car. It's a Race Car, not a Luxury Sedan. Enjoy!"
Enjoying, I am.
*I apologize for the low res pics, it's a cell phone camera... All the white splotches are reflected clouds.
