Default DIY Idea: Installing Synchro Rev match

Hey Guys,

This not a complete DIY but just outlining the idea behind it. i drive a G37 and thought about adding this feature to my car. From my past experience, most of the parts from Z and G are interchangeable so i did some research.

In case anyone has purchased a 6MT without the sports package but want the synchros rev match feature, here is how you can add it:

Parts needed:
-new ECU
-new gauge cluster
-Synchros rev match button
-gear position sensor

Here's how the rev match feature works:

When you activate the feature by pressing the button, it grounds the switch from the gauge cluster/ speedo. The cluster then sends the signal through the CAN system to the ECU. At the same time, the gear position sensor, which is located on top of the 6MT tranny, tells the ECU which gear you are in and which gear you are about to go in. The ECU then calculates the correct RPM and revs the engine for you.

So in order to add this feature, you'll need to drop your tranny and add the gear position sensor. It will replace the black cover on top of the tranny. Then hook up a wire from the sensor to the ECU. Then you'll need to replace your gauge cluster with a new one that will have the correct CAN signal to send to the ECU. Finally just add the button and wire it to the cluster. And then replace the ECU with the revmatch one.

Sounds like it a lot of work but might be fun for some people. Just an idea.

I wish i could do this with my G37 but I cannot replace my G37 one with a 370z one.

Special thanks to AK370z for sending me the Factory Manual.
