wetsanding is good enough. Are you doing them yourself? If not, let the shop decide. If there are any problems in the future, they should cover it. I know that I give a lifetime warranty if something I coat fails.

I bought a brand new set of painted wheels for my corvette to use for track wheels. I powdercoated them with zero prep, other than wiping down with alcohol. I would never do that on a customers wheel, but I like to test things with my stuff.

Through 3 sets of tires, changed out at dealership, and at least 15 track weekends, the coating is holding up perfectly.
