insurance claim painting my Z

long story short.

combination of sand rocks and gravle made me file a claim through my insurance.

they are gonna paint my whole car and replace my headlights and windshield

now heres the tricky part.

how i get the insurance to buy factory paint for KAV ? they are paying the shop to paint it and most likely they are gonna TRY to match the OEM color

but since its the whole car. there is no need for matching or blending .

i dont want my 40TH to look off from others.

any help ? thanks in advance

:shakes head:

Given that its a 40th, theoretically a collector's item, and the color is unique to that special version, I'd go with Nissan factory paint and possibly see if they will spray an extra coat or two of clear.

Even if another shop does it, in theory all you need is the paint code.

Or... get that opticoat stuff on once the paint is fully dry. After going through the trouble to restore it to new, might as well protect the hell out of it.

Otherwise, I'd say just go for the best you+insurance can afford in whatever color you like.

They have to use factory paint otherwise it will not match to another 40th properly. Very tough color to replicate.

if its a decent shop, they will be able to mix the paint properly. You can't even buy 'factory paint', its all mixed locally.

That's what I thought ! But from other threads I see people claiming they buy it from Nissan.
All I know is they only sell the touch up paint ..if that's the case , I'm gonna need lots and lots of them small bottles

Don't think you can buy from Nissan. I called every dealer near me, they just get the supplies from a local paint dealer and mix it to match

I just had a rear bumper put on + wing without blending into any of the panels and the paint is 100% match.. can't even tell its painted and it was mixed locally at the shop.. so i think it just depends on the shop.
