Does anyone regret altering their 40th's 1 of 1000 look?
I don't know what it is, but everytime I get excited about doing a new mod, I get nervous about how it will impact the resale value or uniqueness of the car. Any other Z I know I wouldn't care, but because this is a 40th and "there were only 1000 made", I drop the idea.
Just looking for some advice/points of view on the topic... And it's not that I plan on selling it anytime soon, but I know my habits and I've swapped cars out 3 times in 4 years. This one feels different, but I can't be sure.

Well...being an owner of one of the 16XX nismos...I know what you're going through.
Mod in a tastefull manner and you won't have any problems with resale value or uniqueness. If you replace anything...keep the stock parts... What are you looking to do?

I'd like to do a stillen front lip install a new cat back exhaust. I also live in the city and don't have space (or a private garage) to keep the stock parts, so that makes it difficult too. Buying a house next year, but just can't wait that long.
Some smaller mods I'm considering are a small roof spoiler, stereo headunit swap, and a mounted iPad mini in the cubby hole (when it comes out).

BTW, checked out your car. Looks sick man. Looks better than the new nismos. Almost looks like the old skyline.

If I had a 40th I would probably feel the same way. I wouldn't do anything that isn't easily reversible and like kingbaby said I would make sure to keep all the original parts.

Seems you've researched enough and know what is quality and what is a waste of time.... stick to that and you'd be fine

I hear you there too, you want to keep it almost as is.
I kept the stock wheels until just a few weeks ago, had a hard time deciding. I don't want to touch any badging (no shaving) and I'm not "replacing" any body parts (new bumper)...the side skirts and rear add on's I have just add to it... At the end of the day, the colour and the interior will always stand out

Being a 40th owner as well, I know what you're talking about. But as stated, do tasteful mods that can be reversed if needed. Ex. Cat back exhaust can easily be taken off... Use plastidip instead of paint if you want to do blacking out, don't cut things.
If you plan to alter the interior, save the parts you remove such as the storage hatch if u mount an iPad. You can always buy a replacement cubby.

My anni 370z has completely redone seats, roll bar, wheels, and a multitude of different things. Make sure you keep the exterior color the same, interior has to be red, brakes have to be red. I have exaust, drop springs, turbos and so on and so fourth. It's the color scheme your paying for. Stick with that and you'll be fine. No one looks at my car any different now.

I added a carbon fiber hood to my 40th, the color is similar so it's a subtle mod. But I also kept the oem hood so I can swap out when needing to sell the car. I feel that exhaust/intake wouldn't matter too much cause you can't see it. The paint and the red seats are the strong point IMO.

I say do what you want. With your own mods the car is one of a kind. It's already been said, but if you're worried about resale keep the stock parts and keep the exterior and interior color the same. Even body work is easy to replace.

I was thinking about doing the window scoops in the 40th color I think it would look pretty badass and a semicheap mod. cant see out those little bastard windows anyway. from here http://www.z1motorsports.com/g37_370...oducts_id=6098 on second thought, i feel that the fender scoops/slits? might be necessary to make it look like they belong.
