Aerosol Paint

I want to make a color matching license plate frame for my wife's 40th, but Nissan only sells touch up paint with a brush. Has anyone used Automotivetouchup.com and if so, how did it match up? The have our KAV paint code listed as an option.

Most higher end body shop supply stores will sell you a can of spray paint with your colour in it if you supply them the VIN and possibly the paint code. No big deal. I think it sells for about $40 a can in Edmonton Alberta, probably cheaper in the states.

David - I've used their products on two different cars with excellent results. Proper preparation is a must - degrease, sand, degrease, prime, sand, paint, clearcoat.

Godd Luck!

Good recommendation, I've heard good things about them, seeing this post made me pull the trigger on a 12oz Aerosol can and plastic promoter.

I mentioned getting OEM paint to a buddy of mine who is the "know it all" of car stuff and he was surprised i could get it in a 12oz spray can...so I jumped on it lol

recap

Well, since I mentioned what I was planning with the paint I thought I would show you the final product. I bought the 12 oz. aerosol can and used it to paint a metal picture frame. While I was at it I purchased a plastic frame cover that has a bronze shade to it.

After:

The glare in the photo makes the color of the car look lighter than the frame but it is much closer in real life. Same with the plate cover, the glare is only in the photo.

It's already getting admiring looks!

NICE...I just placed an order for the paint as well, and plan to do that same. Post pics when you get a chance!

So they come in some nice can's, good spray quality. I got the adhesion promoter for the plastic (probably didn't need it) and the base coat

On the first headlight, I was trying to be more careful than anything so didn't take lots of pics but will take much more on the 2nd headlight. You can still see the KAV paint color compared to Satin Black, I'm very happy with it

Thanks

Had to muscle it a bit, but not too bad. I did the oven technique, on 250 for about 14 minutes.

Wasn't too bad once it started to separate. Actually pressing it back together is harder for sure.
