possible new 40th or Nismo 370z owner, few questions
I'm thinking its about time to trade in my 08 STI and the 370 is about the only car out there that catches my eye. I saw a 40th anniversary a few months ago, I didnt realize at the time thats what it was. I do remember thinking wow thats a nice looking Z. Then recently I saw a Nismo and so now I'm sold on the Z.
Just a few questions, as far as the 40th goes, the US version comes with the Bose system. Is there any way to hook up an iphone to it so that I can listen to music? I read a bunch of reviews and most say the Nismo is loud inside the cabin, which is fine for me because the STI is pretty loud inside. How loud is the 40th inside? Is there anything I should know, quirks, known issues etc etc. Thanks for your input. |

The z is pretty quiet inside, lots of tire noise if you have the summer tires and you're on a rough road surface. I'm going to add some soundproofing materials because some tire noises seem to come through the hatch area.
The Bose system really falls short. I'm throwing mine out soon. I have a 40th, I really love the color combo and the wheels. I'm really surprised by the number of compliments I get on the car, I thought my other rides were more interesting but people seem to love my 40th. I daily drive it, even in the winter. My wife just bought a new STI, the big difference (for me) is that the Z is quieter and rides much more firm. My Z is obviously much less useful than her hatchback STI. As for quirks, the only thing that bugs me is the tire noise and the feel of the manual gearbox. |

The tire noise can be overcome by replacing the bridgestones for Michelin pilot sports. I don't notice it that much unless it's a rough surface road.
I think the Bose system is pretty decent for a factory stereo. I have no desire to replace it. Sure it could be a little louder and have a little more base, but honestly it's plenty for most of my needs and does sound pretty darn good for an oem unit. I listen to rock and metal. If you are the type that always installs an amp in the car, then you won't like it. If you have had oem units that were "good enough" in the past, the you will probably find it adequate . My FJ cruiser has the premium system in it with a factory sub, and it doesn't sound near as good. I am replacing that unit. |

I got this USA SPEC: PA15-NIS the day after I bought the car, it works great and I can't live without the steering wheel audio controls.

As for 40th or Nismo...do you care about the few more horses on the Nismo and the factory kit?

It comes with the touring AND sport package. They are separate, you can get a regular z with touring without sport.
But no worries, all 40ths are equipped exactly the same from the factory. The only differences will be dealer add ons like illuminated kick plates |

Ya that is quite a bit to do, happy the Canadian model came with Nav so I can just plug that into the armrest and be done although I seem to just always use a USB key these days

Gotta love that! That's what sold me on the 40th here in Canada was that it's fully loaded with the stock Nav! Otherwise I would've pulled up an American Nismo at the time.
