So today, my friend dropped the clutch on my Z and hit the edge of my garage entrance. Im posting up pics of my bumper.. and hopefully yal can give me some insight into whether its repairable or whether Ill need a new one.. Also some estimates as to what a new bumper with paint is going to cost? Thanks,

Note: There is a clearbra on the bumper as well...

That looks pretty bad. I am sure it's going to need to be replaced.

I'd estimate with paint and new clear bra it will be at least $500, probably more.

Yep, that does not look fixable.

When I got a quote for a new bumper + painting it, it came out to be around $750-800.

One of my sons, when he was 16, drove one of my 240z's into a filing cabinet in my garage (we started the car in gear). Filing cabinet won, hood lost.

Is he still around or did you sell him into the black market after that... :roflpuke2:

I was tempted to do just that, but he beat himslef up enough over it. he is an ace Z mechanic now and stays pretty busy -- just not in the body work department.

More than $500, less than 1k... not repairable. Most shops wouldn't touch it because the potential profit made from repairing is smaller than the liability of it not coming out properly after all that work.

Footloose301 12-08-2011 08:59 PM

Not nearly as bad as this....

^^ True! The price i was quoted ranged anywhere from $805 to $980. Seeing as how i wont be claiming it on my insurance, i decided to go with a $805 price! Thanks for everyone's help! I should have my baby back in about a week or so! Ill let yal know the end result..

Fyi... $40 for the bumper emblem.. I laughed in their face!

I could fix that in my body shop, we repair all kinds of rips, tears, dents.

Insurance Co. would prefer repair vs replace,I hit a truck tire on the highway doing 70mph and fixed it myself the painter took care of the paint looks good as new.

Just cause it looks bad just means it needs someone more experienced to do the repair.Good luck with your car.:hello:

As far as the emblem we have a guy that takes your emblem removes all double sided tape and lazer cuts new double sided tape and then installs it on the emblem, same as the factory does it looks OEM.
