If you want a near-fullproof way of almost completely eradicating paint chips for about ~$40 in supplies, shoot me a PM and I can walk you through it.
After owning an 07 civic for 5 years, I'm a PRO at paintchip repair Last edited by awkwardturtle; 11-14-2011 at 02:24 PM. |

FYI color match is absolutely perfect, the only issue is the chip still has some depth to it... I'll just keep filling and filling (got the big $60 one) until I am satisfied.

I agree it works and I've done the same, but the depth is not there. If your are anything like me, this will just be a quick fix type thing. Waiting till I can get it resprayed either this summer or the next!........most likely the next! I will also be looking into a much more dense paint. So I won't have to deal with the brittle crappy OEM Nissan paint any more!

Pretty easily remedied.
Short version: 1) Clean chip with something like dawn soapy water + alcohol to remove residue, or just alcohol 2) Using a toothpick, fill in chip, adding paint every few minutes (when tacky) until you have a nice 'bubble' of paint overflowing from the chip (make sure it's a decent amount because it will shrink as it dries) 3) Wait 2 days for it to dry, then sand down with a block and GOOD wetsand paper (Recommended: Meguiar's unigrit paper, at least 2k grit) 4) Using something like Meguiar's Ultimate Compound or M105 (my favorite), buff out the wetsand scratches. If you use M105, you will literally take them out in 10 seconds and have a perfect finish. |
