Wondering about these build numbers...

I called Nissan and got my build number, but after looking at this 40th anniversary member list, I am questioning the validity of these build numbers. For example, Nissan told me that the build date on my car was on 1-11-2010 and my build number is #281. If you look at the attached list, you will see members who's cars are built near the same date as mine, but will have build numbers in the 800's or so, while other will be later build dates, but have lower numbers. Seems a bit fishy...
