3M Clear Bra on a 40th
How do you guys feel about the clear bra on your 40th? is it noticeable? can it be removed easily? I am worried about color discoloration. any insight is greatly appreciated.

Venture Shield ... looks great. It can be peeled off (even after years) without any damage to the paint. Perfectly clear.

I will probably be putting clear bra on my car next weekend after I get her back from the body shop. I'll let you know how I like it.
|
I have my front bumper, half hood, half fender and mirrors....I usually have to tell people its there...only notice on certain angles...just where it ends....no colour difference.

i think the kit for the whole front end might be a little pricy but if you check out 3M they will sell it in sections its cheaper an you won't have to buy sections you won't really use
|
No problem with my clear bra, other than you can't buff out scrape marks...but I'd rather have that and replace the bra than have rock chips.
And, don't bother with the headlights...impact resistant plastic does not require clear bra. Way easier to clean without it. |

Thanks everyone for the excellent feedback.
I called around and it seems like installers in the DC/Baltimore area are charging the same for the kit ($695). Covers bumper, half hood and fenders, and mirrors and headlights. 3M's Venture Shield is backed by a lifetime limited warranty. |
The price is comparable to what I paid ($600). Let us know how it turns out.

Had my VentureShield installed over the weekend. Paid $650 in St. Louis for bumper, 24" hood w/ wrapped edges, partial fenders, mirrors, headlights and a portion of the rear door sills right behind the doors.
I am happy with the film quality as it almost matches the factory paint orange peel, but was a little disappointed with the coverage in some places like the fang area and mirrors. All in all, I feel much more comfortable on highways now! |
Full Hood
Full hood is very preferable.:iagree:

clear bra
its the installer that is soo important

scotchgard or venturshield...both are made by 3M. which one would you choose?

Q: What is included in the VentureShield™ Paint Protection Film warranty for 7510 CC/CS? A: The current VentureShield™ Paint Protection Film warranty for 7510 CC/CS remains the same until on or before July 1, 2010. A copy of the current warranty card is available by calling 1-888-663-1394. I am really having a hard time deciding |
I am using ProShield in Sterling. In fact dropping the car off tomorrow morning. They use VentureShield and they give a lifetime warranty against defects, to include yellowing, cracking, etc, plus lifetime on the install.
As long as the installer is backing up the product and install with a lifetime warranty, I am good :tiphat: |

Another film that is looking actually better than Ventureshield is Avery Nano Fusion. it comes with a true lifetime warranty for both material and labor. It is embedded with the clear coat material making it nearly impossible to stain. It is perfectly smooth and easy to install. The only downsides are the cost (it is the newest technology so it is a little more) and it only comes in widths up to 40". So I still have to use Ventureshield to wrap full hood and most full fenders. |
thanks Greg. you helped me make my mind. just made an appointment with ProShield. please let me know how it goes tomorrow.

VentureShield
I also strongly recommend the full hood for the visual effect. I have partial fenders and it looks great, as if part of the car's design and the crease is so much smaller on the fenders. At this point, after a year and half, i don't have any chips on the fender where the clear bra was not installed so for me ,so far so good on that decision.

I had ventureshield put on the entire nose of the car (full coverage) as well as the side mirrors (pattern), A-Pillars and rocker panels (bulk sheet for the last two). The installer also did the hood out of bulk sheet since he said the full pattern didn't extend all that well to the edges. This also allowed him to roll the seams which makes it almost completey invisible. I paid 1000 total which isn't bad at all for that amount of coverage.
