Also, killing me trying to decide if I want to tear into it...if it wasn't a 40th it'd be game over...but I don't want to ruin the purity...thoughts?

DarkPath made the plaques. The 40th did come with a special cover and plaque, but the plaque only said "40th Anniversary".

I still want my danged cover, darnit...anyone, this vehicle has become a drug. I am doing all I can to not rack up the miles on it, but it's hard...it's...an addiction. Still attempting to figure out which number out of the 1,000 which I have.
Also - being a 40th, is there an inherent value to these vehicles? Is their resale higher? I ask out of curiosity - I plan on handing the key to my son one day (I have no children, currently) |

Without writing a book, it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.

I've driven a '92 Viper several times and loved it...one of my friends' family is incredibly wealthy and they actually just bought a Gallardo but I'll probably never have the opportunity as it's down in Florida and I'm up in Ohio.
I loved the Viper so much because it was a PURE sports car...you drive it, it doesn't do anything to help. I hadn't driven a Z until I test drove mine, and while it's not the unbridled beast that the Viper was, it has a genuine feeling of purity. It's rough and tumble compared to other recent sports cars I've driven. I drove a Porsche Cayman S with the PDK and yeah, very nice, but it felt soulless...the Z (Lana is her name) has a personality...I consider her a pure sports car and am genuinely worried she and her kind are a dying breed. |

So due to recently moving in with my girlfriend, my time and funds have shifted significantly, but I s'pose this is my list currently in terms of priority:
1. Brake upgrade - still searching for the right pads, but I found this set of rears on Amazon for $5.87 free 2 day shipping (not sure how they stack up, but couldn't pass up the price)... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Not sure why they're like $13 now...just ordered them yesterday 2. Tires - I currently have General G-MAX AS-03 set but the former owner curbed the fronts pretty hard and actually took a nice 50 cent piece size chunk of rubber out of the side (checked with several tire experts and they assured me it's safe.) Not a terrible tire, but I can feel where they like to lose grip so I can't corner as aggresively as I would like and they do lose traction at points where a dedicated road tire wouldn't under acceleration. I can make them dance quite a bit, though, which is pretty fun. 3. Exhaust - the slight performance bump would be very welcomed, but I simply cannot stand the lack of engine note...I need some music. 4. CAI - I've built CAI's for my other two vehicles ('09 Wrangler and '91 S-10 which I just put 65K original miles on and my girlfriend's 2005 Hyundai Accent *lolz* but it actually provided a lot more than I anticipated) 5. Who knows...it'll be forced induction...but that's a ways away |

If so..... go for it It wont hurt the value at time to sell(if ever selling) you could aways out it back to stock. Plus a little make up makes her look real pretty

Luciano, I hear ya entirely...I still flip-flop...for sure doing an exhaust swap when I finally garage her for winter (it's a high of like 50 something degrees here today in Cincinnati...usually it's between 10 and -10 with the earth iced over, so I've been able to play with her a bit before the Snow Miser arrives.) While I'm still (very slowly) getting through my body work on bumpers/fenders....I am considering carbon fibre hood/bumpers...no paint...just the weave. Also might stiffen her up a bit, and definitely brake upgrade/appropriate tires before next summer.
Also, I switched to Mobil 1 0W-40 and have been blown away by the results, whereas I was originally considering a Royal Purple or Redline...couldn't be more pleased with my temps and the motor loves it Last edited by ZeuceCoupe; 12-23-2014 at 09:27 AM. |
