It makes sense in todays market. Together we stand, devided we fall.

Both companies have had recent quality issues. Not to mention boring and expensive cars.

Kia and Hyundai have played the "slap lipstick on a pig" very well and managed to sell inferior quality, for less price because the styling and pricing is correct.

Toyota may survive this glout, but they too are suseptible.

The Big 3 survived because of tax payer bail outs. Now with new worker contracts, only time will tell the true costs. Japan may not be willing or able to support comapanies the same way America can.
