They could make it longer, but because of the slow average speeds achieved in Monaco, the race is shortened to get it under the 2 hour limit for a television slot.

I honestly thought that tires were going to make it interesting toward the end (no idea how George managed to stay ahead of Max on fresher rubber), and it was only teamwork that kept Lando from pitting in the last 20 laps or so. Another couple of seconds added to the gap would have done it. But with every driver knowing that every other driver was preserving tires to make it to the end, without one brave team starting a charge into the pits, it was always going to be a boring procession. And half of the grid had no new race tires left.

So sad to see Alonso sacrifice his race for the idiot Stroll to get a free pit stop and then clip the wall one lap later. At least he brought it back to the pits instead of becoming another red flag.

Neat how they had the cranes set up all around the track for vehicle recovery. That's thinking ahead!
