Realistically, I do agree with you regarding the percentage of failures. Probably the gaskets don't blow out THAT easily, but regardless, it's a good peace of mind to have the oil pressure gauge. If nothing goes wrong - it was a cheap upgrade and you know everything's OK. If something does go wrong - you'll immediately know and you can prevent catastrophic failures.
