In similar news: Does anyone know if the door "step light" (i.e, the red reflector on the inside door card of each car door) is illuminated on the new Z? I'd love it if there were any easy way to illuminate those red lenses on our cars.

I have personally seen the new Z at a car show, and they are not. It is the exact same red reflector as in the 370Z . Now there is an official Nissan accessory sold in Japan that added a blue LED light to the door, in the door jamb near the latch. It's meant to make the door visible for traffic when you open the door into traffic but is also cool looking. The 370Z specific model part number is B6420-3GY0A.
I can't find a photo of the 370Z installed version anymore, I remember seeing a photo of it in a Nissan Japan PDF accessory catalog which no longer seems to be online and luckily I noted down the part number for a possible future purchase. I recall it being about $100 (per door?). It seems Nissan Japan makes a variant of it for most of their models. Here is a version of it installed on a Nissan van, the 370Z version I remember has the same blue LED pattern.
