Beating up and getting beat up was part of growing up. Not sure when society got so sensitive about kids being kids, and getting physically disciplined by parents became taboo.
I remember during elementary school, I was this scrawny@$$ kid and wasn't able to fend for myself. So, I made friends with the bigger kids by hooking them up with snacks (sometimes even did their homework) in exchange for physical protection.
