Necessity, no, but reason, yes.
With some good winter tires it would be ok 99% of the time. But my Z is lowered without a winter wheel setup and I'm lucky enough to have a fun spare car to use and a parking space available for it.
I've seen a local white Z that kicks around year round. Hope he/she is having a blast with it
