I think in general most people don't look at the cost of something, they look at the monthly payment. I remember a salesman talking about how a guy bought an F-450 king ranch for 80k and having 2k a month payment! I guess if you can really afford it do it but that is an insane price for a truck/car!!

Nothing wrong, just that the maintenance is colossal comparted to a car and parts easily 5 times the cost. Needed a power steering pump, did my research, $64 remanned from local parts store; in comparison $650 from Mercruiser!!!!
So if the people you are commenting about have a car that is a pile; I can imagine the derelict and dangerous shape the boat is in.
I agree it's about what they think they can afford and is easier to swallow by the month. I can pay cash for said truck many times over; however, I chose not to and oh ya SCREW INTEREST!!! I found a $15k truck to pull my boat (safely) cause my life's not about impressing strangers but rather not working until my last breath.
