VR30 is a lateral move at best, especially with its current state of aftermarket advancement. For someone who wants entry level F.I. power levels it might make sense, but for larger power cars like 650+, it has yet to prove any advantages, and comes with its own disadvantages.
Now that Nissan will sell you a facelifted Z34 chassis with a VR30 in the next few months, its hard to justify that swap anymore unless you are just majorly invested in bodywork on a 370z project or hugely opposed to the new Z style.
