Thank you, Josh. We get nearly 2/3 of our imported oil from Canada, and considering we get more from Mexico and Saudi Arabia than Russia, it is not mathematically possible for us to get 1/3 from Russia.
After looking at the numbers, it becomes clear how rash and erroneous that claim is. According to the EIA 2020 data, Russia makes up 6% of the Top 10 countries we use to import oil.
While it is true that the number of barrels from Russia increased 50% between 2020 and 2021, it is patently false that we ever came remotely close to sourcing 1/3 of our oil imports from Russia. And what a terrible thought to think that we would ever rely that much on Russia for anything
