Bought one of these puller kits, not the rods. Did a number of small dings on the wife's GTI and my M2. Works pretty good. Some of them, you don't notice a thing. On 2 of them, the dent is totally gone, as you can't see it or feel it. However, due to the paint being pushed in on the dent, you can notice a small difference, like a tiny swirl or wave in the finish of the paint after it was pulled. Much better than looking at the ding though. Just be aware, I've read that it's possible to remove some paint with this method.

Regarding OP's question about price, I had a mobile guy that would charge me $150 1st dent, $100 for 2nd and on, if it's on the same visit. So to me, your quoted price sounds excessive.
