This year would have made it 20 years there. I was hired on 9/16/2001.
I would still be there if Duke didn't sell the plant to Dynegy in 2015. When Dynegy took over. It was a clusterfvck. (still is from what I hear) They went from 1,800 employees to 6,000 overnight. They bought 11 power plants from Duke and another 6 plants from someone else. Complete change of corporate culture and it wasn't for the better. It was so bad that we took a union vote and voted the union in just before I retired. I left and was followed by 6 others within a year. The writing was on the wall.
Under Duke. The 401k was matched dollar for dollar up to 6% on all money earned. Dynegy was dollar for dollar up to 5% on base pay only. OT and bonus didn't count. My average bonus was $48,000, I average another $50,000 plus in OT. Dynegy was cutting benefits too.
