If you wire the yellow into your stop light, the wire will only be hot when you press the brake pedal. The diagram is asking you to wire into the parking lights, since those are separate from the headlights, and would provide a light when your running lights are on, but not your headlights. Your DRL's would be another option for a switched hot connection.
