You have no idea. I was relatively normal for a Nuke. We were definitely in our own little world. Got medically de-nuked near the end of time and had one hell of a culture shock having to suddenly be a regular sailor.
As an E-5 in the regular Navy I was supposed to be qualified on all sorts of things and have all sorts of knowledge and experience. I got my butt chewed sooo many times by my Chiefs because of this. Fortunately once they figured out/remembered that I was an ex-nuke they were much more understanding and helped me a lot. I was very appreciative of that.
