Lol, I never said I was a Tesla fan, in fact I always hated Tesla and I hate Elon Musk. But one month I spent $1000 on gas. That's more than a car payment. So do I buy a Nissan leaf, basically a glorified Versa, with the curb appeal of a Versa, or a Model 3 for almost the same price? Choice was easy. There aren't many options in this price range now, maybe I would have gotten the new Nissan Ariya instead, but that's like 18+ months away.

Ps. Where I live, the government paid $13000 for the Model 3. When was the last time the government offered you $13000 to help you buy a new car? That was an offer I couldn't refuse.

Honestly, I would have preferred a traditional gas option. I would have loved a Lexus instead. I also would have LOVED a new manual transmission Bronco, but with the amount I drive I would then be spending $800+ a month on gas. Here is my problem:

Car payment + $500 ~ $600 gas a month + pay full price for car.
Vs
Car payment + drive around for almost free + government subsidized my new car $13000.

My pockets are not that deep.

I may trade-in 2025 for another EV from a traditional auto maker when more appealing options are available. But at least I wouldn't have blown $30,000 on gas in the interim.
