is this stub axle an upgrade for the passenger stub axle required for the wavetrac?
if so are the driver and passenger stub axle the same for wavetrac? (should i be buying two of these upgraded stub axles for the wavetrac install?)
That Z1 short stub axle is almost certainly NOT an upgrade over OEM. It is simply a cheaper option vs the OEM short stub axle - although the way Z1 has been going in recent years, I would just shell out the extra $$ for the Nissan part instead.

The Wavetrac install requires a short stub axle on both sides of the diff. If you have the base open diff then you will need to purchase two (2) of the shorter stub axles. If you have the sport VLSD, you already have a short stub axle on the driver side and a longer one on the passenger side meaning you will need to purchase one (1) shorter stub axle to have one on both sides.

Rusty makes a good point. It should be noted that there are two different versions of the stub axle - one with threaded bolt holes and one without threaded bolt holes.
