During the storms in LA a couple of weeks ago I totaled my Acura TL which I liked very much. Hydroplaned on the freeway at 65mph while changing lanes, spun out off the freeway and into a tree. The car was totaled and I had no idea what to get. After looking around for weeks I was still oblivious. My dad and I were driving around and I decided to go to the Mitsubishi dealership to look at EVOs. On the way we came across Nissan and I was like "Hey, let's check out the Maxima, they're pretty nice" still with the mind set that I'd be getting another 4 door sedan. While looking at the 33-34k stickers on them we walked over to a '09 Pearl white Z and my dad saw the sticker and said "hey, this is only $30k" (we hadn't noticed the $5k dealer markup yet). At that point I knew I was gonna leave there with that car and so the negotiating began. We ended up buying it out the door for $28,800 and I was like
I fell in love with the car before I had driven it a mile. I've been a car enthusiast for most of my life and this is my first true sports car so needless to say I'm STOKED and can't wipe the smile off my face when I'm driving it.
So the car is a base model, no syncrev, no sports package. I didn't even know the sports package came with the syncrev option but I think if I had known I would've done the same thing. I guess I'm lucky I learned how to heal & toe when I was young.
I installed a system within a week of having the car. I couldn't deal with the stock base model crap (anyone wanna buy the stock headunit?) Kenwood 5140, iphone connector, 6 speakers (Sony Xplode, Rockford Fosgate rear, MB Quart tweeters, powerbass amp, JL Audio 10" sub. There's gonna be custom work to mold the sub into the trunk so it's not a box sitting in an already cramped space. I'll post pics once that's done in a week or two.
I'm also looking to upgrade to an affordable upgraded big break kit because this car will get a lot of track/canyon/autox time and I wanna make sure it stops. Any recommendations on this?
This is the best 370z forum I've come across so I'm glad to be a part of the community. I'll keep up with the events board and see if I can attend some autox/canyon run/meet events near Los Angeles soon and hopefully get to know some cool people.
Ironically, people have been calling me "Z" for about 10 years (I'm 27 now) because my real name is Zohrab (pronounced Zo-rub, it's Armenian) so the "Z" culture and history feels like it's a part of my soul. (Hence the name KingZee, also my xbox live handle if anyone plays Forza 3 or MW2)
I guess that's enough of a formal introduction. I look forward to meeting everyone.
In the meantime, here's a pic of what was left from my Acura you guys might find interesting. The head of my golf driver that was in the trunk was broken and about 10 feet away from the car after the crash. I had bought it a couple of weeks before.
Damn this turned into a long *** post.
