I am planning on changing my coolant soon and wanted to know if I should also replace my thermostat. I have an '09 with 64K miles. The car has never overheated and nothing has indicated that the thermostat is compromised. I had an oil change done at the dealer and they commented that the thermostat seal needed to be changed. RockAuto has the
seal and an
AISIN thermostat with housing for under $25 and since I will be replacing the coolant (and upper and lower radiator hoses), I figured I would just replace the thermostat and housing with a new one while replacing that seal.
Is this just a waste of money, or is there some logic to replacing this cheap part while it's easily accessible?
