And from my personal experience the people who made the decisions all were able to enjoy their holidays and family.

At the power plant. Nothing changed for the holidays. But management always took extra days off.
We would call them in the middle of dinner just to mess with them. Ask a bunch of stupid questions. Get their permission to do something.
