He had at least half a car-width to the left of him that he could have used in order to avoid the Ferrari. On the first lap, everyone is pushing beyond their tires' capabilities. Doubt that this corner was fast enough for much aero and Charles was using the tow as much as not getting the downforce in dirty air - he was understeering for sure, and he could have probably backed out of the throttle to get out of that. They both played a part. Calling it a racing incident was fair IMO.
