I don't think the Z34 used market will see a significant drop in prices when the new one is out as tradionally happens when a new generation model gets released. Why?

The Z34 base model is currently 30,000 USD/CAD.

Used Z34s are already priced accordingly.

If the new Z35 was going to continue on with the 30k base price, then you would see huge downward pressure pushing down all used Z34 prices. This is normally what happens with new generations of cars; new generation comes out at the same price as the old generation pushing down prices of the old model.

But all indications point to a 40k USD base price at minimum. If this is true, not only does this put the Z35 in a different price bracket, it almost puts it in a whole different class pricing wise than the current Z34. With the Z35 coming in at a higher price bracket, it won't create the strong downward pressure on existing models. Heck, some people buying new 2020 Z34 base models for 30k probably can't afford a 40k car.

It will be like how the Supra coming out didn't lower the prices of used 86s. And really, someone who was going to buy a used Z for 20k won't be cross shopping it with a new 45k Z. The 20k used Z will remain 20k, because the buyer can't think "well I can buy a brand new Z35 for just 10k more".
