It was gruyere mac & cheese spread. The noodles were cooked to the point of almost being mush. you'd mash/spread it evenly over the bread and eat that way.
From a plating standpoint, it's very appetizing due to the height and texture differences. From a food to mouth standpoint, it's asinine and totally not worth the effort.
