I hope and pray that the prosecutor hasn't over-reached in bumping the charges to 2nd degree. If the officer is not found guilty that will a) indicate to other bad cops that they can get away with murder and b) lead to wide-spread unrest (unrest is probably an understatement).

Unfortunately juries have always been easy on cops committing crimes, think about all the acquittals. In the name of self defense and feeling threaten, they can get away with almost everything.
