I've never engaged that tab either....actually I've never paid attention to that tab until reading JAR and SouthArk's comments....I just always assumed that I shouldn't hold it upside down lol.

I never raise the inserts above the bottom height, I've never felt comfortable conceptually. Besides, my 6 tons (HF) is quite tall to start with, and the 3 tons (Craftsman) give ample of height for the simple things I do.

I'll probably go for more reputable units , or at least something rated ridiculously more than my car, like 2 pairs of 12 tons , if I have to be entirely under the car for a long time.
