Headed home
2 days on site - first thing we talk about is checking the smoke dampers. Because they always fail. We haven't seen a single project have all their smoke dampers pass testing on the first attempt in 30 years
They take all yesterday to get them ready. This morning we start to check them after being told they are definitely ready. 3 of the first 4 we look at are closed (they are supposed to be open normally and close upon activation of the fire alarm system). The motors for the actuators don't even appear to have power, much less connected to the fire alarm system. Turns out the fire alarm guy messed with the wiring and screwed it all up. They spend all morning fixing it and tell us they are ready to test at noon. No dice. We left at 2 without ever testing them
