Post Era RE-11s, Sports Rays and 305 tires
Hopefully somebody--or better yet several people--will have an answer(s) to my question. I've dug through numerous threads (e.g. "will it fit", "370z meaty tire thread" et al.) looking for the solution but to no avail.
I am trying to run a 305 rear tire on stock, sport rims. When the RE-11's were in production this was a no-brainer:
305/30R19 (rear) & 265/35R19 (front), or 275's etc.
Obviously, the RE-11's are damn near impossible to come by now. So my question is, are any guys/gals running a different 305 rear tire on stock sport rims? If you are, what are the exact tires you're using?
I've been PM'ing several users who I thought had 305's on the 10" sport rim width but it seems most people were actually on the Nismo (10.5" wide inner rim). I believe Rumblefish has the stock sport rims and is running S-04's but I couldn't find anyone else or verify that he had no issues. Another user I spoke too thought someone else was running PSS's in that combo but had issues and blew out a tire.
Can those running 305's on stock 19" Rays with the 10" inner rim chime in and maybe post a pic or two with your setup?
Additionally, I just wanted to add I am on stock suspension, no spacers, and have the sports brake package (Akebono calipers). If you had rubbing issues or had to change anything up with your 305 tires on sports 10" rims please comment on that too as it will be helpful.
I have talked to several users running 295's without issue and ultimately I may have to give in and go that route. I'd like to make Rusty proud though and go as meaty as I can on the rears, LOL.
Hopefully this new thread will help out any other users in the same boat and solve their frustration with reading hundreds of pages only to come up disappointed and/or more confused.
