I drove a rental Corolla up to Palo Duro Canyon one time. When I got north of Lubbock, winds out of the West kicked up to at least 40-50 mph gusts
I stayed in the left lane because every big gust moved the car over damn near a full lane. The first time it hit me, I wasn't exactly ready for it and ended up on the shoulder and one wheel off the edge and on the dirt. That sure woke me up after 8 hours of driving
