And I've never purposely fished for squid, but did catch a small one while casting for bait. I never realized this, but those small black dots move around on them. Pretty fascinating.

lol..You have to match the rod and action with the line weight of the bait/lure youre using. I had to practice in the front yard for a while til I got the hang of casting with a casting reel.
Yeah, thats their camoflage. Their color pattern will match their environment. And they can change their pattern pretty fast!
When you pull up an angry giant squid (up to 20lbs), theyre red, sometimes flashing red. REALLY MAD and squirt ink all over the place We would have ink wars on the boat..lol
But when they die, they turn white.
