I had toyed around with the idea of a custom single exhuast using Sashas Motordyne specific downpipe routing it through a 3" Vibrant ultraquiet ending in a single Vibrant Universal. The cost would've been roughly 6-800.00 if I could get a fabricator to give me the hookup. Then I saw this delete that Motordyne came up with. There were two versions, resonated and straight. I wanted a little more flow but not obnoxious. So I contacted Z1 and picked the resonated version for 400.00.
I wasn't quite sure what I was up against sound wise but after getting my butt kicked on my back by the infamous V band alignment. I picked up the tools and broke out the phone for the first start. I was not disappointed. Finally I could hear turbo noise at idle. Yesterday I took the car to a shop and the drive there was awesome listening to the exhaust with no radio. It was like taking the old Motordyne and turning it up a couple notches. I can't speak to the NA crowd, but for those of us muffled by turbos. This is a clean, deep and agressive tone cruising, accelerating and decelerating.
Here's a clip of the first start. It was a true cold start so I couldn't be stupid but in the 3 minutes of the video I idle, do low revs and a few moderate revs. Had the car been warm I would've been more aggressive. When it comes back I'll do some pulls to show what I heard.
