A car cover wouldn't take over the weight imposed by snow accumulation. If it's anything, the car cover would worsen or add complication to the problem.

Back to the original topic. It's probably prudent to keep the snow off daily, but that depends on accumulation and the type of snow. The fluffy kind is very light, but the wet one is heavy. I would just use a rule of thumb that makes sense.
