The 7at is built by Jatco, it’s either a subsidiary or a spin-off from Nissan. I’ve owned and driven so many of them....

Own: G37s sedan, FX50, 370z (wife’s)..
Drove: tested multipleeee 7at 370z’s while shopping for the wife, older to newer, all low miles, Q50 loaner cars a few times, both 3.7 and 3.0t.

My opinion: The upshift is ok, at the right rpm and throttle it even feels direct and sporty. But the downshifts and kickdowns are glaring weak spots, just like any traditional slush box, slow and laggy, but I think that might’ve been contributed by the programming.

ZF8 is great, but it depends on the car manufacturer’s programming logic...BMW did great with it, while Jaguar didn’t do as good of a job allegedly. Great if Nissan can use this tranny, just don’t f up the programming lol.
